A MOTHER-OF-PEARL ODE TO THE MOON’S KISS
The Classics Elegance Luna is the latest timepiece to be released in Frederique Constant’s Classics collection. In a major first for the Maison, the timepiece’s Moon Phase has been designed by the daughter of the Manufacture’s head of R&D. The moon in question is evocative of romance and intimacy: two half-moons embrace amid a mother-of-pearl dial housed in a 36-millimetre steel case.
Sometimes, a truly innocent insight is the best. When the daughter of Frederique Constant’s Director of Research & Development set out to dream of a Moon Phase, it was a far cry from the usual display, taking a very different approach to that of a watchmaker or a designer. Her inspiration was more romantic and poetic in nature.
The thoroughly classic nature of this layout is here further enhanced by a new hour ring on which traditional Arabic numerals have been replaced by slender, gracious Roman counterparts. For the first time in the collection, these have been done out in the same colour as the topstitched leather deployment-clasp strap, forming a style signature that’s exclusive to this collection – and a rarity in watchmaking in general.

NEW BURGUNDY LOOK
This new edition of the Black Bay 58 retains all the core design elements from TUDOR throughout the ages and includes aesthetic notes from a prototype TUDOR Submariner ref. 79190 developed in the ‘90s. The watch boasted a brilliant burgundy dial with a matching bezel. It never saw production, but this design now lives on in the form of a brand-new Black Bay 58. The burgundy unidirectional rotatable bezel offers very prehensible sides and its insert shows subtly curved numerals aligning with the outline of the outer ring.
